We present a beautifully, detailed metal pendant of the legendary Ouroboros; designed by Anne Stokes. It measures 5 cm x 4.5 cm with a chain length of 60 cm, and features a red gem in its eye. It comes in a black velvet pouch and two art print coasters - one of Anne's Ouroboros design and the other of the "Siblings" art in which the lady wears this pendant. We are proud to add to our STOKED Artefacts range.
The Ouroboros is an ancient symbol depicting a serpent/dragon eating its own tail. Originating in ancient Egyptian iconography, the Ouroboros entered western tradition via Greek magical tradition. The Ouroboros is often interpreted as a symbol for eternal cyclic renewal or a cycle of life, death, and rebirth. In Norse mythology, the Ouroboros appears as the serpent Jörmungandr, one of the three children of Loki and Angrboda, which grew so large that it could encircle the world and grasp its tail in its teeth.
